ASEAN Class at Elementary Schools in October 2021

The ASEAN-Japan Centre conducted school-visits to the following elementary schools. This project aims to deepen understanding of students on the ASEAN Member States.

Nanyo Elementary School, Koto-ku, Tokyo (Online lecture)

Date: 4 October 2021 
Class: 3rd grade (4 classes) 
Featured country: Indonesia (3rd-6th grades, Nakamura School in Medan) 
Content: Self-introduction and Q&A session (this class is an introductory which is planned to lead to exchange of letters & face-to-face meeting in 2022) 

  

Kamishinmei Elementary School, Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo  

Date: 11 October 2021 
Class: 1st-6th grades including class of special needs (7 classes)

Content: 
1st grade “Ethnic clothes and food, Show and Tell traditional things” 
2nd grade “Introduction of clothes, local food, greetings and famous folk tales” 
3rd grade “Daily life of children, school life and traditional games” 
4th grade “Waste, water and environmental issues” 
5th grade “Local specialty products” 
6th grade “Overview of Malaysia (geography, industry, tourism, sports, religion)”

Kodaira Daigo Elementary School, Kodaira-shi, Tokyo  

Date: 27 October 2021 
Class: 6th grade (3 classes) 
Featured country: Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand  
Content: Introduction of the country, greetings, local elementary school (Typical day, unique subject and tradition, popular games, school life), food, culture, popular food/songs/anime, lecturers’ personal insights including reason to study in Japan, their dreams and future plans
