About the Event
The 2nd AJYELN Symposium marks the culmination of the FY2024 ASEAN-Japan Young Environmental Leaders Network program. Aligning with the Joint Vision Statement on ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation (2023) and the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific, this initiative empowers young leaders to combat marine plastic pollution through innovative community-driven projects.
In 2024, 33 young fellows from eight ASEAN countries and Japan conducted 63 awareness campaigns, reaching over 17,000 people with actionable knowledge on plastic pollution, proper waste disposal, and recycling practices. Supported by the ASEAN-Japan Centre, their efforts have catalyzed real change in their communities.
Symposium Highlights
Project Showcases: Discover the impactful, student-led initiatives addressing marine plastic pollution across ASEAN and Japan. Hear directly from the fellows about their challenges, successes, and the lessons they’ve learned.
Inspiration for the Future: Celebrate the achievements of these young change-makers and learn about the next phase, AJYELN 2.0, designed to inspire and empower the next generation of environmental leaders.
Join us in honouring the creativity, resilience, and dedication of these young leaders as they demonstrate how innovative actions drive sustainable progress.
